18 Nov 2008: Safari/Chrome Bug Fix
Thanks to Lee Fogarty and his excellent HTML skills, a niggly bug in the rendering of this website under WebKit based browsers was fixed today.
If this means nothing to you, then don't worry. It now means the site works in all browsers. I can thoroughly recommend to anyone with a burning need for an HTML/PHP/CMS expert.
Aug 2008: Shopping Cart Bug Fix
Earlier today a small problem was discovered with a recent database update that caused items to be incorrectly left in the shopping cart if they were added and then subsequently removed.
This issue has been resolved. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Aug 2008: The ZX Spectrum Book - Limited Edition
The updates for the ZX Spectrum Book Limited Edition have been completed, and the proof is due to be shipped to the printers after that.
If all goes well, the books should arrive at Hiive HQ about twenty business days later, which works out to be about mid-September. (UPDATE: Make that end-of-November. The proof process took longer than I hoped).
They are well on the way to selling out (as only 100 are being printed) so if you want to be sure to get one, now is the time to put in your preorder!

Andrew Fisher
Andrew Fisher has been a computer gamer since the mid 1980s, starting with the Commodore 64. During the 1990s he wrote for Commodore Force (incorporating ZZAP! 64) as Professor Brian Strain, the technical expert. After reviewing games and writing for Commodore Format, Andrew helped with several fanzines and club magazines until the arrival of Retro Gamer. Interviewing old programmers about their classic games, Andrew has also contributed to gamesTM’s Retro section and written articles for Micro Mart. Along the way he has amassed a sizeable collection of retro consoles and games.

In 2005 Andrew was the editor and organiser of Retro Survival, a CD-based magazine. Its unique selling point was articles from the “missing” issue 19 of Retro Gamer as well as photo galleries, video and audio clips all accessed from an HTML-based system that worked on PC or Mac. In 2007 Andrew began writing the Commodore 64 Book, published by Hiive Books in March 2008. He regularly attends retro events in the UK and hopes to travel further afield in the future. Andrew’s other hobbies include watching sport, reading science fiction and listening to music. He is now living in Skegness, England with several arcades within easy reach.

Jerry Ellis
Jerry Ellis first discovered the joys of video gaming at the tender age of five, when his father bought him a 1978 Hanimex 8881 Electronic Colour TV Game for Christmas.
A Grandstand Munchman tabletop game and a Donkey Kong Game & Watch soon followed, before the VIC-20 became the first computer to infiltrate the Ellis household in 1982.  Jerry later moved on to the Acorn Electron and the Commodore 64 before temporarily turning his back on gaming in disgust as the 8-bit era drew to a close.
His favourite game is Firebird’s Gauntlet clone, Druid, which he once completed in an all night session with his cousin.  The fact that he was always forced to play as the Golem still rankles.

Having wound up a ten year career in advertising with London’s Capital Radio in 2007, Jerry is now enjoying life as a teacher of English, Drama and Media Studies at Dover Grammar School for Boys, where he was recently appointed Deputy Head of the English Department despite being only halfway through his training year.
In spite of his obsession with vintage computers, Doctor Who and Nottingham Forest Football Club, Jerry and his long suffering girlfriend (now fiancée!), Em, are still together.
They live in Kent’s picturesque Alkham Valley with their two Schnauzers, Gnasher and Gnipper, Em’s horse, Margie, and a miniature Shetland pony called Harvey for company.

Andrew Rollings
Andrew Rollings has written several books all connected in some way or other with his love of games, an infatuation which started with his first exposure to computers in late 1981 when he was given his brother's cast-off ZX81 computer for Christmas.
A ZX Spectrum soon followed and was his mainstay for many years before progressing to the 16-bit delights of an Atari ST, Amiga and a healthy range of 16-bit consoles.

After an excited forum posting in 2005, the idea behind The ZX Spectrum Book - 1982 to 199x was conceived, and the book itself was born eighteen months later to an enthusiastic reception. It has since sold out.
Emboldened by this success, Andrew founded Hiive Books as a small specialist press with the aim of producing more books in the same vein. The second of these, The Commodore 64 Book - 1982 to 199x followed a year later, with the promise of more to follow

Andrew in an ex-UK resident who lives in Auburn, Alabama with his bemused wife, Stephanie, retrogaming step-son Taylor, seven indifferent cats and one vastly outnumbered dog.
