8/26/2008 Here are a selection of comments I received for the original ZX Spectrum book...
It's no longer available, but the limited edition hardback version is available here.
Only 100 are being printed, and about half are pre-ordered, so get it while it's hot!
On with the comments:
- "Well, the quality of the book is bloody amazing, the pages, feel and style of the book is spot on.
I have flicked through it all and I am currently reading it page by page. Taking the whole lot in, like a fine malt whiskey, it's best appreciated and taken slowly to appreciate the quality within.
You have given this veteran gamer of 33 years a trip back down memory lane and I am going to enjoy every step.
You better be working on volume 2 as this is going to sell out fast as it hits coffee tables around the country!
Everyone in Britain, including the kids, should pick this up to see how far gaming has come. For me my 360 and Wii and
PC produce some quality moments of gaming, but nothing and I mean nothing compares to those early days of Horace, Wally, Monty mole and the weeks and weeks lost on football manager!"
- "I received mine this morning - many thanks for all the time and effort you put into the production of the book - the layout is absolutely fantastic and I shall spend many happy hours reliving my Speccy memories."
- "I've got a few mates with whom I used to sit huddled around the small TV, totally engrossed in the Speccy and I shall be forcing your book on them when I see them next. I hope you're taking a well earned rest now (although rumours of Vol 2 are still echoing around the forums...), but well done, it is a fantastically enjoyable read, the design in perfect (It even LOOKS like a Speccy, genius)"
- "What a fantastic, accessible & enjoyable read! Well done! (my boss even mistook it for an actual speccy... must put a real one on the desk tomorrow!)"
- "First reactions, I'm just amazed at the quality of the book, I've seen all your .pdfs previews etc., but they just don't do it justice until you hold the book in your hands."
- "Just received mine today and I'm pretty much blown away by the quality - it really is an incredible achievement. Not the best thing to arrive on a Monday when I'm supposed to be working - I couldn't put it down!"
- "Got my copy today. Absolutely stunning book. Well worth the money."
